on this corner bus stop

Last night, I had the privilege of running the merch-andise booth for Another Cynthia. The show was at Berbati's, which is where I saw the Pumpkins play for free in February 2000. I got there early and met the bassist, Ian, whom I had contacted on myspace. At various times throughout the night, I got to say howdy in some shape or form to each of the band members. They were all very grateful for my work, some expressing gratitude more than once. It turns out that about half of the band is from the Roseburg area, not just lead singer Ian Mackintosh.

As the show was on a weekday, the crowd was light. I sold two CDs ($18). The guy said to keep the change ($2). And I even checked in a coat ($2). That was funny because the coat check wasn't even open and I wouldn't have been in charge of it anyway. I also collected money for Tango Alpha Tango as no one was manning their portion of the merch booth (same problem Another Cynthia had). I got a t-shirt and a copy of the Mannequin EP. I had lots of fun. The show was free for me and it was a great way for me to show support for a band I really believe in.

You Go Girl!

Another Cynthia's next show in Portland is September 6 at Someday Lounge as part of MusicfestNW. Come on out. Just be prepared to be rocked!
