Calling The World…and getting a busy signal

After Optometry's Meeting in Seattle, I drove south through Portland and on to Roseburg where my aunt and uncle and cousins were visiting. Good times were had by all. There was food and talking and lotsa Wii. I bought Mario Kart a couple months ago, but it wasn't until now that I got around to playing it. It's loads of fun with four players! I haven't played online yet. My friend Alex (aka Leon) also has Mario Kart. I look forward to racing him online.

On July 4th, our company left. But we weren't without something to do. It turns out the Fourth of July was on July 4th this year. I celebrated the holiday with Michelle and her family in Glide. Glide’s annual celebration was at the middle school. There was food, fun, and fireworks all for the fantastically frugal price of free, free, free. We met several of Michelle's and Andy's friends. I ate two of Gru's sno-cones. Here’s a joke for you:

Q: What's better than a free sno-cone?
A: A free sno-cone that you didn't have to wait in line for! (thanks Gru!)

Lemme see what else…Grandpa went to an appointment at the VA hospital and they ended up admitting him, but he's ok. We celebrated Michelle's birthday at her place with a BBQ. I won an iPod from Hoya and gave it to her for her birthday. I stayed in Glide for a couple days. Glide's high school burned down. Andy (and all neighboring fire departments) got called in to fight it. He can be seen in The News Review hosing down the building in shorts and t-shirt.

The Rooney concert at Hawthorne Theatre is starting right about now. I go to a lot of concerts. I've won tickets and not gone before. I've flat out decided not to go to a concert before, but I think this is the first time I've purchased a ticket and been unable to attend. I've had my ticket for a couple months and I'm stuck in Roseburg because my car broke down. I was gonna head up to Portland to stay with Shaun. I'm glad it broke just a short walking distance from Michelle's house. The torque converter started going out last year while I was in Kentucky. I'm not sure if it’s the TC or transmission. In any case, the car no go. I got towed from Glide to Roseburg with a little help from Andy's AAA and right now the car's sitting at Aamco. They're not open until tomorrow. We'll see then what exactly the problem is and how much sweet moolah it's gonna take to get 'er zipping up the freeway again.
